Eddy O'Cane
Editor-in-Chief
Eddy is the founder and editor-in-chief of Awesome Agents. He built the publication from scratch in early 2026 after fifteen years straddling the line between building things and writing about them - first as a security researcher, then as an open-source developer, and eventually as someone who realized the best way to understand AI was to cover it full-time.
His background is unusual for a newsroom. He spent a decade in offensive security and systems programming, shipping tools used by red teams and infrastructure engineers worldwide. He holds no journalism degree - his formal education is in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin, with a focus on distributed systems and cryptography. What he does have is a deep technical instinct for when a claim is real and when it is vapor, honed by years of reading source code instead of press releases.
At Awesome Agents, Eddy sets the editorial direction, manages the team, and occasionally writes when a story hits close to his technical roots - usually involving security, open-source politics, or the infrastructure layer that most AI coverage ignores.
His editorial philosophy is simple: explain it like you are talking to a smart friend who has not been following the news, never bury the lede, and always show your sources. He recruited every writer on the team personally and trusts them to own their beats without interference.
When he is not editing copy or debugging a build pipeline, he is probably reverse-engineering something, contributing to open-source projects, or arguing about espresso with Elena.
